El Columpio in Mitchell

Stopped for lunch on trip to Sioux Falls and was very pleased. The service was awesome (very friendly).The food was delicious and the portion was rather large. I definitely recommend trying El Columpio! We will be coming back.

Family owned, the staff is very welcoming and friendly. The in-house made chorizo may be the best I've ever enjoyed!Highly recommended!

If you are from here or just passing through like us, this place is worth a stop. From the drinks to the amazing food everything was WORTH it! Perfection in the middle of South Dakota. Go figure :)

Chose this place over West Coast Tacos b/c of the reviews - this was a mistake. I honestly feel bad giving a 1-star review to a restaurant during a pandemic but... a dollar in one pocket is a dollar taken out of another.ground beef like out of a smoothienot fresh veggiescorn tortillas, all 3 tore on first contact.Everything kinda just congealed into a big mess.Enough for two people - big quantity for $12, but other than that... I threw away half of it.

The largest and best tasting burritos I've ever had! There were swing style seats along the windows. The food was fresh, tasty and extremely large. It was served hot and tasty. Customer service was wonderful. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our drinks were served promptly and order taken. The food arrived quicker than usual. The horchata is made daily and tasted. The prices were absolutely excellent based on quality and quantity. This is certainly a must go to if you are in the area. The signage isn't too clear and Google will bring you to the wrong place if you use the address. If you search the name in Google it will bring you right there.

Unexpected surprise while traveling through South Dakota. Excellent food and huge portions. Unique building with roof deck outdoor seating. Close to the freeway.

This is a phenomenal place to eat. The rice and beans tasted so fresh and moist. The margaritas are some of the best I have ever had. We will definitely stop by when we go through this area. Highly recommend this place to everyone.

Really good shredded pork and chicken tamales. Service was very quick, and friendly. To top it off, the restaurant facility was very clean! Highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing! Second time we've eaten here and we will always be back when we are in Michtell. The staff is amazing, the food is scrumptious, and the portions are absolutely huge. You will not be disappointed with anything that this restaurant does. Seriously one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Well done!

Absolutely one of the top Mexican restaurants I've been to. I travel extensively and am always on the lookout for Mexican fare. This restaurant provided excellent service, huge portions (which I don't really need) and fresh, fresh, fresh everything. I would definitely good back and may on this trip. I also enjoyed my meal with 3 others who ordered three different things and they too were very impressed. One of my colleagues is married to a Mexican-American. Enough said.

Had a burrito with carnitas and it was super dry had almost no flavor and if you dont specify exactly what you want in you burrito you with just get meat in it nothing else, id much rather go to taco johns, did there window service which they hand you a menu then you order circle back around to pickup , i felt extremely uncomfortable by the staff when i pulled up to the window all they said was high nothing like how may i take your order or anything just high with awkward silences, there is no menu outside so i guess your just suppose to know what you want i guess wont be returning

Tried the beef fajitas today, very good portion size, enough to fill 4 tortillas. Good portion of protein and served on a hot fajita dish sizzling with sliced onions and peppers. The onions were perfectly caramelized when arrived at the table. Very flavorful and fresh ingredients for garnishing, including shredded cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and pico. Several different hot sauces to add some heat were available. Service was fast and attentive. Refried beans and rice was very delicious and required no additional seasoning. Probably the best fajitas I've had in several years

We ate here a couple weeks ago and it was delicious! The two of us each ordered a different kind of burrito and both were exceptional. They were also huge! The place was clean and staff were very friendly and upbeat. I would have given 5 stars but I am just not a fan of the kind of chips they use.

We just had the best meals! My husband had chicken fajitas and I had the enchilada rojas. Oh my! They were so delicious! Easy to order and take out. So incredible!

After reading all these great reviews we had to give this place a try, Unfortunately it did not live up to what we'd read about it. Carne asada and carnitas both tasted like they'd been reheated several times, they were chewy and tasted very old, I was only able to get through maybe 3 bites of my plate before I gave up. Told the waiter when he came to check on us and was told they cook everything fresh for each customer which is hard to believe. Even after having them toss my pretty much full plate they offered no discount or to take the meal off the bill. Left hungry and out the $15 I had to shell out on old food. Will not be back. I was more willing to get a slice of truck stop pizza on the way home than eat another bite off my plate.

This place is some of the best Mexican food I have had! Very friendly people. When in town for work this is the only restaurant I have to come to!

Authentic Latin food. I recommend any carne asada dish. Its steak that is broken down with citrus juice and with their good guacamole its incredible.

Awesome everything! The food is spectacular. The green sauce was amazing. The Shrimp Alajillo special of the day might be the richest and yet most well balanced profile I've ever tasted. This is now a must stop

Food is amazing!! Staff was amazing!! We came in just before 9pm and realized they close at 9. We apologized and said we would just get it to go but they insisted we stay and eat there. The food was some of the best Mexican food we have ever had. Highly recommend!

Great food, prepared well. I had the torta with pork adobado. My partner ordered the fajitas with carne asada, both were fantastic!

On our way to Custer State Park we stopped here. We liked it so much that we had to stop on the way back. The servings are enormous. The kids meals are very generous. We enjoyed our food. The kids had burritos and they were bigger than they could eat. We enjoyed several different kinds of tacos.

Wife and I stopped here to have dinner on our way through town. The food was unbelievable. Seriously, the food was piping hot, fresh, and tasted amazing. It has been years since I’ve had Mexican food this good. Atmosphere was also enjoyable. Would definitely go back to this place if I ever drive through this area again!

Excellent fresh Mexican food. Some other Latin influences as well. Large portions, great price, clean. December 2019 in Mitchell again for business. I was looking forward to eating here before I left Los Angeles. This is the best Mexican food I have had in years. Very fresh, big portions, amazing flavor. I have tried 10 different menu choices across my visits and everything has been very good. I tried the sister restaurant across town and amazingly enough the flavor there is average. It was still good but as good as I can get in LA. Columpio is a big cut above so it is my preference.

Just terrible honestly the food wasn't anything like on the pictures and I know it will always look nicer on there but I ordered the caramel chinmichanga that image had one nice pastry with a dollop of whip topping and strawberries instead I get 4 small pastries caked in cinnamon and a scoop of icecream. The meat was disgusting my brothers steak was so tough it was like eating a tire. The music was so loud you couldn't even order. And worst of all the service was terrible when some "buddies" of the staff came in they all just stood around and talked. It took ungodly long for our food to be served to us. The chefs where working without hair/beard nets and no face coverings. It was just an abomination of a restaurant. If I was starving with this place as my only option I would just starve to death.

O! my! gosh! This place is fantastic!!! The environment was fantastic and inviting, the food was amazing, especially for the cost (both quality and portion size) the servers were extremely friendly, interactive, and very fast responding to customer requests. I would highly recommend this as a place to try out, it's a fantastic break from the fast food chains and "big name" restaurants. I'd like to reiterate, highly recommend.
